STUN GUNS: These devices are not lethal. They will temporarily incapacitate an attacker, giving you time to get out of there. Don't stand around admiring your work. Stun guns use high voltage and low amperage to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. The stun gun does not rely on pain for results. The energy stored in the gun is dumped into the attacker’s muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker’s blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid. In short, he is unable to produce energy for his muscles, and his body is unable to function properly. The stun gun also interrupts the tiny neurological impulses that control and direct voluntary muscle movement. When the attacker’s neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun he loses his balance. Should the attacker be touching you, the current will NOT pass to your body!
DEFENSE SPRAYS: Pepper sprays are based on a simple principle: the juice from a hot pepper, when introduced into the eyes, will temporarily blind an attacker, rendering him/her unable to hurt you until the effects wear off, in about 15 or more minutes. There ARE people who can withstand the effects of a pepper spray, but they are few and far between. These devices come in many types, most of which are not readily identifiable as what they are. Some look like lipsticks, others look like pens. There is even one that looks like a ring. Potential attackers are not aware of them until it is too late. They will also disable an attacker until you can get out of there.
SPECIAL SAFETY DEVICES: Personal safety doesn't always involve stun guns or pepper sprays. Sometimes it's as simple as a device to wake you up if your head drops as you fall asleep while driving, which is the first device you'll find on this page. It may also be a hidden camera to allow you to see what's happening in your absence. Things like a "teddy bear" on your child's bed to see if your nanny is doing his or her job right, or is possibly beating or otherwise mistreating your child or stealing from you. Or it could be a camera that looks like a screw in the wall. Maybe you have some valuables you'd like to keep hidden by having a valuables safe disguised as a can of Ajax cleanser or a jar of mayonnaise. Then there are sensors to tell you when someone comes onto your property without letting you know he/she is there or sounds an alarm if someone attempts to enter your house or room unobserved. Others turn on bright lights when they sense movement. All these devices are priced so the average person can afford them. Check this page for many inspiring ideas to enhance your safety or the safety of your valuables.
DISGUISED SECURITY CAMERAS: There are many times when you'd like to know what other people are doing in your home or office when you are away. These security cameras are completely disguised. Nobody would expect a little plush puppy dog among your child's toys to be a camera, ready to record it if a nanny slaps your child or decides to steal from you. Nor would they think a thing about a screw in the wall recording everything you do there. Others are disguised as (working) boom boxes, clocks, mirrors, etc. Check them out and see if there's something you'd like to have.
SELF DEFENSE BOOKS AND CDS:
People don't think about books and CDs as being self defense devices, but they can be if they cover the right subjects. The first two here, I wrote to wake up people who "do not pay attention to politics" so they can put a stop to the liberals' efforts to make this into a collectivist (socialist, communist, fascist, etc.) country. A country where the government makes all your decisions for you (like Soviet Russia did before it collapsed after 75 years) and will have the power to deny you medicine or a medical procedure you need to save your life because you are too old or too sick for it to be economically feasible. The reason why we now have liberals "running things" in Washington is that too few people pay attention to politics and know nothing about the candidates except what those candidates tell them (usually lies) in the last months before an election and thus continue to vote into office, the very people who cause the problems that beset us.
